Hunting ghosts and testing local urban legends...

Private Residence/Historical Site

When:  December 1, 2006 @ 9:00 p.m. (Kenosha, WI)

Weather:  Extremely cold and snowy

Reason for the investigation:  Reports of ghost sighting and other anomalous activity within the meticulously kept historical home located in Library Park district.  Two EVPs captured on this night.

Green Ridge Cemetery

When:  November 9th, 2006 @ 8:00 p.m.  (Kenosha, WI)

Weather:  Unseasonably warm weather all week long.  48 degrees.

Reason for the investigation:  Combined together with the adjacent St. James Cemetery, this is Kenosha’s oldest and largest cemetery.  There are reports of fleeting spectral ghosts, and reports  that if you toss stones over the fence, some will come back out over the fence.

The investigators present that night heard a “wail” and a “screech”.  Another investigator heard the distinct sound of a bell ringing.  (like an old telephone would ring, she stated).  We were there approximately an hour, when we were approached by Kenosha Police, and they explained to us that we had to leave.  The neighbors are very protective of this cemetery.  Click here to hear someone who was not us say "bye" and then have the two-way radio report with a beep/squelch.  Also, it was that moment when Carrie heard the bells.

Rhode Opera House (Rhode Center for the Arts)

When:  Friday, October 13, 2006 @ 8:00 p.m.  (Kenosha, Wisconsin)

Weather:  Bitter cold and windy.

Reason for the investigation:  Reports of full bodied apparitions, disembodied voices, and sometimes dark lurking figures are all reported from within this enchanting theater of days gone by.  Results were inconclusive, due to the number of persons roaming the building that night, would love to return and investigate on a weeknight, under a bit more controlled environment next time.  Music from a neighboring tavern interferred with the data that was collected.  Members of The Lakeside Players, the theater group who owns the building, could not have been more hospitable and gracious to all of us present that night

Saint Casimir Cemetery

When:  Saturday, September 16, 2006 @ 10:00 p.m.  (Kenosha, WI)

Weather:  Warm and balmy

Reason for the investigation:  Local stories of ghosts (dark figures) roaming the cemetery at night.  Results of the night were inconclusive

Kemper Center (Kemper Hall)

When: Saturday July 16th, 2006 (Kenosha, WI)

Weather: very warm and balmy

Reason for the investigation: Previous Visits to Kemper grounds produced strange experiences, and this night was no exception.  Possible audio evidence of a woman screaming was obtained and also a possible ghost, when a dark figure was seen on the Kemper Center grounds.

Saint Casimir Cemetery

When:  Saturday, July 13, 2006 @ 11:30 p.m. (Kenosha, WI)

Weather:  Warm, but pleasant

Reason for the investigation:  Urban legend investigation. EVP captured on this night of a loud "growling" sound.

Kemper Center (Kemper Hall)

When: Wednesday July 13th, 2006 (Kenosha, Wisconsin)

Weather: warm, but pleasant and breezy

Reason for the investigation: While photographing Kemper Center during the day, this investigator caught the image of a face in the window in a rear courtyard. This, combined with the numerous tales of ghosts and hauntings, has sparked an ongoing fascination with this wonderfully creepy old building.

This place is off limits at night, so you have to go early unless you want to get into trouble with the law. While taking a break, sitting on a park bench and talking to each other about unrelated events, we heard the loudest noise come out of the building that night. It sounded as if somebody had broken down a door inside the Simmons Gymnasium area. We were seated right in front of the place when this happened. We had no recorders running at the time this happened . Both of us leaped to our feet and just stared at it with our mouths open. Lesson for the night, NEVER turn off the equipment. EVER.

Kenosha County Cemetery

When:  January 19, 2006 @ 8:00 pm (Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin)

Weather conditions:  Unseasonably warm (approx. 47 degrees)

Reason for the investigation:  While researching reported hauntings in the S.E. Wisconsin and Kenosha area, I happened across a website which listed Kenosha County Cemetery as being haunted.  The article erroneousley listed this cemetery as being named "Paupers Cemetery", and had it listed as being in Kenosha.  The cemetery is actually located in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, and has never been called "Paupers Cemetery", although many unknown and indigent souls had been laid to rest there.

This is a very sad and forgotten place.  The cemetery is completely unadorned.  There are no flowers, staturary, or religious symbols whatsoever.  One investigator reported that he kept hearing noises which seemed to be coming from the rear of the property.  Results of the evening are inconclusive, with nothing turning up on the audio recordings.  Only one photo contained some kind of anomalous red streak in the NE corner of the cemetery.  Other photos had the usual controversial orbs present.  *Update- In Spring of 2009, a young man from LakeView Tech. organized a group and revamped this cemetery.  Stones were washed and leveled, and a new wooden sign was erected.

Spring Brook Cemetery

When:  January 19, 2006 @ 9:30 p.m. (Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin)

Weather:  Unseasonably warm for January

Reason for the investigations:  Strange feelings of being watched reported by a few neighbors; same neighbors do not like driving past here at night.

This photo was taken in Burlington, WI  on a haunted woods tour on 10/29/05.  It was taken by a cameraphone, so the picture is very grainy. She held her cigarette lighter up to her face so I could snap a photo.I was sitting on a Manitou stone looking up at her as she was standing.  As you can see, it was pitch black out there.  I personally believe this apparition to be her totem.  It looks like a dog or wolf to me.
